Release Day Promo!! Four Seconds to Lose by: K.A. Tucker

Owning a strip club isn’t the fantasy most guys expect it to be. With long hours, a staff with enough issues to keep a psych ward in business, and the police regularly on his case, twenty-nine year old Cain is starting to second guess his unspoken mission to save the women he employs. And then blond, brown-eyed Charlie Rourke walks through his door, and things get really complicated. Cain abides by a strict “no sleeping with the staff” rule. But being around Charlie challenges Cain’s self-control…and it’s been a long time since any woman has done that.

Twenty-two-year old Charlie Rourke needs a lot of money, really fast, in order to vanish before it’s too late. Taking her clothes off for men makes her stomach curl but Charlie tells herself that at least she’s putting her acting and dancing skills to good use. And though her fellow dancers seem eager to nab their sexy, sophisticated, and genuinely caring boss, she’s not interested. After all, Charlie Rourke doesn’t really exist—and the girl pretending to be her doesn’t need to complicate her life with romance.

Unfortunately, Charlie soon discovers that developing feelings for Cain is inevitable, that those feelings may not be unrequited—but losing him when he finds out what she’s involved with will be more painful than any other sentence awaiting her

Four Seconds to Lose was a suspenseful romantic thriller.  Mixing a deceitful plot into the boy meets damaged girl story line added a level of unpredictable into the otherwise predictable story.  It was brilliant.
From the very first paragraph the author had me hooked.  Hell, from the first sentence.  I text my sister immediately to tell her I was already in love.  Some authors have a way with descriptions.  Others with humor.  K.A. Tucker brought emotion.
Going into Four Seconds to Lose I hadn't read the previous two novels in the series.  Both have been on my "to be read" for months, but I just haven't been able to get to them.  Let me tell you that will change very soon.  At first I was worried that might be a disadvantage going into this novel.  I was happy to find out it wasn't.  This book that completely be read as a stand alone.  Characters from the previous novels do make an appearance through out Four Seconds to Lose, but not so much that you lose the context of those scenes due to the lack of previous knowledge.
Cain is the owner of a gentleman's club in Miami.  Despite the stereotype he is constantly painted into, Cain is not at all the sleazy, vile man you would expect to own such a place.  He is caring and compassionate.  After a horrible upbringing and a series of tragic events Cain used the club to make amends.
The day Charlie came sauntering through his office doors looking for a job Cain's live was tilted of its axis sending his world off balance.  Can Cain throw away every rule he has create, every barrier he has built to protect himself for this woman?
Charlie's life has been equally, if not more, screwed up then Cain's.  Sent to Miami by her step-father with instructions to lay low, Charlie begins to make plans of her own.  Plans that will have her far away fro the immoral path she is one.
When an acquaintance convinces her to meet with the owner of Penny's Charlie still ins't convinced it is what she wants to do.  The one thing she knows for certain is in order for her new plan to work she is going to need money, but at what cost?  Will Charlie take the high road or be pulled under?

Happy reading!!
